Frequently asked questions...

What should I wear?

Something loose and comfortable which will not restrict your movement in anyway. Track suit/jogging bottoms and a T-shirt are ideal.  wearing a couple of thinner layers is better than one thicker layer.
We practice yoga in bare feet.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You will need a Yoga mat, a small cushion or a yoga block and a warm blanket. If you don't have any of these, I will have some spare mats, blocks and blankets which you may use while deciding whether to invest in your own.

I'm not very 'flexible', will I be able to do it?

In my classes, the emphasis will be on good alignment, working with the breath and relaxation.  We all work with the limits and gifts that our bodies offer us, working without strain or discomfort.  Modifications of 'postures' can be found to accommodate most people's abilities and requirements.

What happens in a Yoga class?

The way that my classes are structured, is that we start with an initial relaxation/settling before moving onto Asana  (posture) work followed by Pranayama (working with breathing techniques) finishing with a final relaxation.  The class lasts one and a half hours.

Is it right for me?

That very much depends on what you are looking for.  Having a very fixed idea of what you expect or want can be a little limiting.  Having said that, you will find each teacher brings something very different to teaching Yoga and its important for you to find the one that's right for you.  My focus and intent is to work with awareness and relaxation, my classes are less of a intense physical work out and more  a way of helping us to access more subtle aspects of our nature, peace, happiness and relaxation, utilising  the body and the breath.
